Who is Eligible for the GM First Responders Discount?

This program grants significant discounts for the following eligible first responders:

• Paid or volunteer firefighters
• Police, including police officers, sheriffs and sheriff's deputies, correctional officers, state troopers and federal law enforcement personnel
• EMTs and paramedics
• 911 dispatchers
• Some healthcare professionals also qualify, and we'll see if you're included

General Motors First Responder Appreciation Program Rules and Guidelines

Overview

The GM First Responders Program - referred to as "the Program" in fine print - provides eligible emergency workers like police officers, EMTs, firefighters and more purchase or lease an eligible new GM vehicle at participating dealerships like ours here in Poughkeepsie, with significant discounts applying toward your lease or purchase. From there, registration for the Program is simple and straightforward.

First, eligible first responders have to register through ID.me to validate your current employment and eligibility. Healthcare professionals will do well visiting gmfirstresponderdiscount.com to validate eligibility.

From there, you'll need an Authorization Number, which you're eligible for two per year. This Authorization Number is valid for 90 days from the date it was issued to purchase or lease an eligible vehicle under the Program. GM will then send the participant who requested an Authorization Number an electronic confirmation that it's been issued.

In addition to an Authorization Number, applicants will also need some required documentation. For firefighters, police, EMTs and paramedics and 911 dispatchers, a copy of the participant's driver's license with the license number redacted is required.

For healthcare professionals, a copy of the participant's professional ID/badge or a copy of a current - within the last 30 days - pay stub with all information redacted except the date, participant's name and employer. Some fees may apply to the documentation for this program, while you'll also have restrictions for shopping the offer we provide at other dealerships that don't provide the GM First Responder Appreciation Program. Finally, there are some titling restrictions as well, as the vehicle you purchase through the Program must be for personal, noncommercial use by the participant.
