Performance

The Trailblazer offers two turbocharged three-cylinder engines - a 1.2-liter and a 1.3-liter. The former produces 137 horsepower, has a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and front-wheel drive. While the latter generates 155 horsepower and has all-wheel drive.

Technology & Safety

The Trailblazer comes with a generous suite of tech in every model. There's some advanced tech in the most affordable model, the LS, though the amenities are pretty basic. Coming standard is an 11-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration and a six-speaker audio system. Higher trims like the LT, ACTIV, and RS trims offer more robust features like wireless phone charging, heated front seats, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Chevrolet equips every Trailblazer with a set of basic driver-assistance technology, which includes forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection and lane-keeping assistance. More advanced tech, such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic warning, are available but offered in optional packages.

FUEL ECONOMY

According to the EPA, the front-wheel-drive 1.2-liter engine earns about 29 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, for a combined 31 mpg. Models who utilize all-wheel drive are only slightly less efficient, earning an estimated 26 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, for a combined 27 mpg.

DESIGN

The exterior of the new Trailblazer is sleek with thin headlights and curved bevels. While the interior is spacious, functional, and outfitted with plenty of convenience items for drivers and passengers to enjoy. The driving position sits high, and there's plenty of space for two adults to be comfortable in the back seat.

Most of the cabin is covered in black plastic, though it's still attractive and avoids feeling cheap. Upper-level models add even more to the design, with colored trim pieces and chrome embellishments giving a more upscale appearance.

As you look behind the rear seats, you'll find a generous cargo bay. With the seats folded up, there's about 25.3 cubic feet of space, which is plenty of room to hold groceries, golf bags, or other items. And with the seats down, the space opens up to 54.4 cubic feet, allowing enough room for much larger gear.
